Demand Led Rostering Software
Employee Rostering Software
MJC²'s ROCS software provides shift scheduling and demand led rostering functionality. Typical applications include driver rostering, factory shift planning, mobile workforce rota optimization and healthcare staff scheduling.
Forward Planning
Demand Forecasting & Planning
Our i-Data forecasting solution can be used to analyse and model historical data to determine forecast demands and patterns.
Alternatively ROCS can be integrated with legacy solutions if required, to establish a demand profile by hour, day, week or month, depending on the nature of the operation.
Long-term Shift Planning
Taking the forecast as input, and allowing for working time rules and other contractual or union-agreed constraints, ROCS optimizes the shift patterns to follow closely the demand profile.
At the same time the corresponding staffing levels are calculated, including agency cover, full- vs part-time split and seasonal variations.
Operational Optimization
Employee Roster Creation
Based on the shift patterns calculated in the previous step, ROCS automatically allocates employees to the rota based on their skills and attributes.
Rotas can be created for the whole year, or for a shorter period, allowing regular refinement and re-optimization e.g. in response to updated forecasts.
Dynamic Re-planning
Responding to short-term and on-the-day events such as holidays, illness or unexpected demand, ROCS automatically updates the planned allocation of work.
For example, a multi-skilled employee might be switched to another task to cover unexpected absence, rather than calling in additional agency cover.
Or, higher-than-planned volumes might result in overtime allocations for some personnel, taking into account legal and contractual constraints, but also ensuring a fair distribution where possible.
Scenario Modelling
The 'what-if' environment in ROCS allows planners and managers to develop contingency strategies and rosters, or to plan ahead for future significant changes in the business.
For example, the impact of new working time rules on the required resourcing levels can be quickly analysed. Or, the potential benefits of offering flexible working patterns for some employees can be estimated.
The ROCS toolset can also be used in parallel with (e.g.) MJC²'s logistics planning (DISC) or manufacturing planning (PIMSS) solutions to develop robust and feasible strategies that ensure that staffing profiles are aligned with logistics and production requirements.
